St Hilliers has received two awards in this year‚Äö?Ñ?¥s MBA of NSW Excellence in Construction Awards for its construction of a $53 million hotel at Sydney Olympic Park and a new $23 million high school in north west Sydney. The Pullman Hotel, which won the Hospitality Buildings over $10 million category, is the first 5-star hotel to be constructed in Sydney in over a decade and western Sydney's first 5-star hotel. The hotel is the tenth project St Hilliers has completed for client, Accor Asia Pacific. Located in Sydney Olympic Park, the Pullman hotel comprises 18 storeys with 212 rooms, conference rooms and guest fitness and recreational facilities. St Hilliers constructed the hotel using a highly efficient system comprising a traditional concrete structure for the basement and podium levels with the high rise constructed using an ultra floor system, internal walls of Hebel and precast panels for the facade. Sustainability was an important focus of the design brief for the hotel and incorporated initiatives, such as energy efficient lighting and solar water heating panels, to achieve a 40% saving of operating costs as compared to a similar hotel. The new Rouse Hill High School, which won the Education Buildings - Public Schools over $15 million category is one of the new school projects in the second Public Private Partnership (PPP) between the NSW Department of Education and Training and the Axiom Education Consortium. St Hilliers as a member of the Consortium was responsible for delivering four new schools in the second PPP. The company was also part of the first PPP new schools project and was responsible for the design and construction two high schools in western Sydney. Rouse Hill High School is also the second of the St Hilliers projects in the second PPP to win an MBA of NSW Excellence in Construction Award with Kelso High School in Bathurst receiving an award in 2008. St Hilliers is proud of its enviable record of achieving well over 60 national and state industry awards, which showcase the company‚Äö?Ñ?¥s capability and the skills and professionalism of its people. |
